About

Hello and welcome!

I'm Charlotte, a Frenglish literary translator, illustrator, candle maker and overall creative living in France. I love telling stories through illustration, photography, film, music, words and scent. My candles, illustrations and handmade goods are inspired by the seasons and cosy everyday moments, whether it is a warm drink in a coffee shop on a crisp autumn day, a visit to the bakery, a quiet walk in the forest or a winter morning spent by the fireplace with a good book.

I opened my online shop in September 2021 when I was living in the UK. Every item you see here is created and handmade in my little cottage nestled in the countryside, near the beautiful mountains and dormant volcanoes of Auvergne.

I truly hope you will enjoy this little corner of the internet! You can also follow me on Instagram & YouTube and sign up to my cosy monthly newsletter at the bottom of the page.

Fun facts about me

I have lived in the UK (Somerset & East Sussex) and Canada (Montréal, Québec) from 2013 to 2024 and only recently moved back to France and settled in the French countryside with my partner.

I studied theatre and film making in high school and university and I co-directed a theatre company and performed in plays and musicals in France for several years before becoming a full-time literary translator.

Friday is almost but not my real name.

I will rewatch all seasons of Gilmore Girls and Friends at least once a year.

I was born the year when Back to the Future and Take on Me came out. I'll let you do the maths.

I play the piano and the guitar (although not as well as I used to) and I love tap dancing.

I started making and selling candles online in 2014 but closed my shop when we moved to Canada. I missed it a lot which is why I ended up reopening a shop many years later.

I started my first blog in the early 2000s (a book blog) and since then, I've had so many blogs and social media handles that I've lost count.

My usual coffee shop order is either: black americano, oat vanilla latte, oat matcha, chai latte or any kind of spicy or smoky tea.
